By Ms. Janet Adams - Guest Speaker Former Teacher at the Prince of Wales School

Executive Members of the Old Prince Waleans Association (OPWA), fellow Teachers, Proud Parents, and most importantly, my beloved former students—the illustrious Prince Waleans. It is a profound honor to stand here today at this Thanksgiving service reception. Looking out at this assembly, I don’t just see successful men and women; I see the faces of young boys we tasked with holding the torch of excellence. When I look at these past students, my heart overflows with pride. To see the doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers, and educators sitting here is a testament to the foundation we laid together at the Prince of Wales School.

We taught you that 'the palm tree does not grow in a day,' and you have proven that with dedication, you can reach the sky. I must take a moment to specifically acknowledge someone who often reminded us that teaching requires patience. Do you remember young Jabez Rogers-Wright? Yes, the same Jabez who frequently tested our patience! Seeing him now as the Managing Director at the National Insurance Company in Sierra Leone fills me with immense joy.

It is a perfect example of what a Prince Walean stands for: resilience, transformation, and ultimate success. Jabez, thank you for making us believe that no student is ever truly 'troublesome,' only potential, waiting to be directed. To all of you, continue to shine.

Continue to be the light in your respective fields. As you thank God for how far you have come, take the responsibility of mentorship, just as we did for you. Once a Prince Walean, always a Prince Walean. Long live the Old Prince Waleans Association. Long live the Prince of Wales School. Thank you.
